About Other Cinemas
Other Cinemas is an award-winning project initiated by Arwa Aburawa and Turab Shah, which is dedicated to finding better and more equitable ways to make and share films. We do this by showcasing the work of Black and non-white filmmakers through free community screenings; by creating networks for Black and non-white filmmakers to learn and collaborate through a free, year-long, alternative film school; and through our own independent filmmaking practice. These strands of our work - new ways of making and sharing film - are deeply connected as we know that the interaction between filmmakers and their communities is radically transformative and can move us to redefine the ways films are made, for who and how success is defined. https://www.instagram.com/othercinemas/
